Program Title: Travel Medicine: What You Need to Know to be Trained for International Travel.

Program Description: With the increase in international travel, there is also an increase in exposure to potential health risks. Travel medicine focuses upon preventing health problems before they occur. The invited speaker, Dr. Patricia Frye Walker, will address the general topic of what you need to know to be trained for international travel. Specific covered topics covered may include: epidemiology of travel related diseases; communicable diseases; immunizations; accidents and safety issues; jet lag and motion sickness; getting health care away from home; health related travel preparations; special needs populations (HIV infected travelers, pregnant travelers, diabetics, etc.); and sources for travel health information.
