MLA '07 Business Meeting

Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Medical Library Association

The Annual Meeting was held on Monday, May 21, 2007 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM in Philadelphia, PA.

Attendee list was not complied.

  1. Welcome and Introductions
    Call to order at 2:10 PM. Introductions and a sign-up sheet was passed around. 17 members in attendence.

  2. MLA Conference News
    Current programming was discussed and announcements of social activities were made.

  3. Conference accommodations
    Richard Klein of Aqua Terra Travel sent information in regard to available hotels for the 2008 Chicago meeting. The best bet is the Red Roof Inn. SIG members are encouraged to make reservations early due to high conference traffic in Chicago at the time.

  4. Newsletter: David Midyette & Sheila Snow-Croft
    David Midyette has taken up the newsletter again and has been joined by Sheila Snow-Croft as co-editor. These positions do not have a fixed term limit, and David and Sheila will hold them until they beg for mercy.


  5. Website
    Chris Shaffer (website) and Tom Flemming (member list) will continue edit the website. The possibility using wiki technology on the website was mentioned.


  6. Call for new officers.
    1. Co-Conveners
      Jacqueline Lescovec continues with her second year of leadership. Jon Crossno begins his two year term to end at the meeting in Hawaii, 2009.

    2. Programming Chair and Committee Members
      Bill Flemming, Michael Scott, and Sheila Snow-Croft assumed responsibility for programming next year. [Suggestion: it would do well to find someone to volunteer to do this prior to the beginning of the next meeting, so that the volunteer can attend the Saturday planning meeting.]

  7. Recognition of past service.
    Dale Prince thanked everyone who worked to make this meeting a success, including:
    --Chris Shaffer and Tom Flemming for their work with the web.
    --Bill Fleming for 2007 programming
    --Anne Seymour for local arrangements
    --Sheila Snow-Croft and David Midyette for their work with the newsletter
