Group accomodations have been arranged for the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Health Sciences Librarians SIG at the Radisson Suites Hotel in downtown Kansas City. The SIG contact for these accomodations is Bill Fleming. You can reach him at bfleming@lib.rpslmc.ed u

The Radisson Suites is 2 blocks from the convention center. There is a trolley stop right outside the door for those who have to go to the convention hotels (which are 18 blocks away).

The rate is $89.00 per night (1-4) persons per room, plus 11.975% tax.

There are three types of suites:
1 King Bed
1 Queen Bed
2 Double Beds

All three have the same rate. Now, each room has a sofa in it, but some of them are not sleeper sofas. If you want one, ask. Each of the type of suite has sleeper sofa options. The 2 Double option has the least number of sleeper sofas.

At this point they are going to block 15 rooms per night 5/31 - 6/6/96. We will evaluate the number of rooms needed on 4/15/96 and adjust accordingly. They're going to keep track of our reservations, and if at all possible, block our rooms together so we won't be spread out over the entire hotel.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Call (816) 221-7000.
  2. Ask for reservations.
  3. Tell the rep you are with the MLA-special interest group.
  4. Ask for the type of room you would like, meaning one king with a sofa......two double beds with sofa......one queen.....you get the picture.
  5. Make sure the rate is $89 + tax for all nights no matter what the room.
  6. Please e-mail Bill Fleming (bfleming@lib.rpslmc.edu) so he can keep track and adjust the number of held rooms, if necessary.

Check in time 3:00pm...Check out time NOON.

Parking.....some may drive......they have unlimited (in and out) valet parking at $8.00 per day that is added to the room bill. There is free parking on the street for the weekend (if you can find it) and a civic garage across the street that has 12-24 rates of $5.00. per day, less than that is hourly.

From Airport....the KCI is $11.00 one way, $19.00 round trip, a Radisson rep suggests that if people are coming around the same time to share a cab, it would be about $26.00, which split four ways is much cheaper that the KCI. Also the trolleys run on a set loop, they go by the hotel, and to all the places, but not directly, meaning if Radisson Suite is number 5 and Crown Ctr. is number 19.....you ride through stops 6, 7,8,etc.....

There are no adjoining suites

They have meeting space....for a price.
